ETH User
Within the users from the ETH Zürich we distinguish between primary and normal users.
Primary users are Professors with their staff who are part of the FIRST Management Team (FMT), which provides the scientific and strategic (long-term) management of the FIRST-Lab. The basic idea is that these FMT professors also have to support FIRST with their management time and additional personnel support. In return, each of them can use up to 50% of certain specified major equipment. Other user requests will have to be compatible with the primary users’ interests in the major equipment. The rest of the 50% is open to other users with first priority given to other primary ETH users, as long as technological compatibility is ensured. However, time slots are available for normal users on all equipment.
Normal users are ETH employees using FIRST technology on a short-term basis or intermittently. They do not provide extra investments in terms of time and positions. Thus, requests of normal users are only fulfilled providing capacity is available and the request is compatible with the primary users’ interests in the equipment and processes. Normal users clearly have lower priority than primary users, but higher priority than any external user. The final decision of priorities lies with the FIRST-Lab Coordinator.
