Prof. Dr. Christofer Hierold

Christofer Hierold has been Professor of Micro and Nanosystems at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, since April 2002. Before, he was 12 years in industry, namely with Siemens and Infineon Technologies. He was Head and Deputy Head of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering from 2009 until 2011, and from 2011 until 2014, respectively. He was President of the ETH Zurich Strategy Commission from 2016 until 2020. He held visiting scientist and visiting professor positions at MIT and at Stanford University, respectively, both in 2015. Christofer Hierold published more than 250 papers in journals and refereed conference proceedings, and he is author or co-author of more than 35 granted or published patents. He was General Chair of TRANSDUCERS 2019, and Co-Chair of MEMS 2009. From 2012 until 2019, he was Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems. Since 2020 he is Member of the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the IEEE. Christofer Hierold is Board member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW, and IEEE Fellow.
